Help of the Buzzards
We had a couple of hunters with us Wednesday through Friday whom took a Bison with a Muzzleloader, a Scimitar Horned Oryx Bull, and then a nice Axis Buck off a place near the YO Ranch. The client shot the Axis Buck from about 175 yards, good shot placement, but the tough guy kept going and we had to track him into the Cedar Thicket. We jumped in twice, and it was getting dark, about 9:00pm. The last time we jumped him, I pulled out my .357 Revolver and hit him, but still couldn't tell where he went.
We decided to call it quits for the night and to just come back the following morning with Dogs, and extra folks. About 20 minutes into our search, we had about 30 Buzzards assisting us in our search, and as soon as they began to descend, we knew where the Axis Buck lay. One of the kids, Antonio, spotted him first, and shortly afterwards, we had him drug out of the brush and up on a large limestone rock ready for photos.

I just want to thank the Buzzards of the Texas Hill Country...without you, our ranches would not be as beautiful.
